Dandeli, a sleepy, laid-back small town near the twin cities of Hubli and Dharwad in Karnataka is home to a number of native, endemic and migratory birds and is a birders paradise. The famous hornbill festival of the region is held around February every year where 1000s of hornbills flock to this place for nesting and breeding in and around the area. This region alone attracts 4 subspecies of the hornbills during this season and is a visual treat for bird watchers, nature lovers and photographers. Thousands of photographers, wildlife enthusiasts and bird watchers never miss an opportunity to visit Dandeli during this time. Apart from the hornbills, this region is a major attraction for many endemic birds and visitors. The Old Magazine House and the Kali adventure camp run by the state owned Jungle Lodges and Resorts are two popular destinations for photographers to come, stay and make beautiful images and videos of the birds around this area. Apart from birds, this place is a scenic beauty and home to a number of other wildlife species including Jackals, Leopards and even Tigers if you get lucky to see them.

Here are a few shot videos I made during my visit to Dandeli, last year.

Don’t miss to visit Dandeli and enjoy the many bird species, nature, biosphere and the wildlife when you get a chance! It is that good!
